Created by Sarah Watts and Rebecca Holt, the Hot Keys Piano course teaches instrumental technique and music literacy in a rounded and imaginative way. Both note reading and pattern recognition are of equal importance to creative opportunities such as composition, improvisation and playing by ear.

In Hot Keys Piano Tutor Book 1 the basics of reading music are clearly explained with handy diagrams and colourful illustrations. Duets are featured throughout the book to introduce ensemble playing, and improvisation and creativity are encouraged right from the start.

Although aimed at students from seven years upwards, the up-beat pieces in Hot Keys Piano Tutor Book 1 are just as suitable for older beginners.

A CD is included, featuring teacher and pupil parts, and MP3 backing tracks including a rhythm section are also available to download.
