Gewa Castanets are a percussion musical instrument that is mainly used in Spanish folklore and Latin American music.

The origin dates back to the period of Ancient Greece, when the castanets were made from two interlocking shells. They have their distinctive and unmistakable sharp sound that differs between the different types according to the shape, thickness and type of wood from which they are made.
